Top tips to help keep your kitty cool this summer

As humans who live in a hot country. We love summer, those hot days swimming in the shimmering ocean, BBQ’s under the shade of a tree and cooling down with a dip in the pool. But summer can be hard on our pets. Especially, our cats. With no way to keep themselves cool, we must ensure that we look out for our furry friends. Particularly in the warmer months.

These are our top tips to help keep your kitty cool this summer:

1. Shade
   Ensure they have a cool, shady area outside. When it’s very hot it’s ideal to bring them indoors with air conditioning and fans.
2. Water
   Multiple large bowls of fresh, cool water. To keep it cool throughout the day try adding some ice cubes in the morning.
3. Avoid exercise in heat
   No play time in the hottest part of the day.
4. Avoid car
   Avoid rides in the car. But if you need to take your kitty somewhere, ensure the air conditioner is on and the car is cool prior to getting in. Never leave your pet unattended in the car. Also, adding a wet towel over their cage can also help to cool them down.
5. Cool treat
   For a cool cat treat place a little dry food in an ice cube tray fill with water, then freeze. Voila!
