My dog ate home made playdough, I’m not sure if I need to worry or not?
Because of its high salt content, some homemade playdough can be toxic. It all depends on the amount of salt in the playdough, how much was eaten and the size of your dog.
As little as 2 grams of salt per 1 kilogram of dog can be toxic. So if he’s just eaten the playdough (i.e. within the last hour), it’s safest to go to your local vet for an assessment. They may induce emesis (make him vomit).
Signs of high salt levels in dogs are: ataxia (being wobbly, difficulty walking), tremors and seizures. If your pup is showing any of these signs or has eaten a large amount of playdough, he needs a hands-on vet examination immediately.
