At what age do my dogs puppies need to be vet checked?

I like to have mum and her pups checked by the vet on day 1 post birth. Mum’s check over will consist of a full body and temperature check with careful attention to the tummy making sure that there are no pups remaining as well as the mammary glands and milk supply. The pup’s check over will pay careful attention to temperature, the heart sounds, cleft palate and hernias.

It’s also important to weigh your puppies every day to ensure there’s weight gain––it’s the best way to assess healthy growth.

Provided all is going well, the next vet check will be at 6-8 weeks of age for their first vaccine and microchip.

And don’t forget the worming of the pups- which is initially every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age.
