Top tips to help your pup beat the heat

We all love that summer feeling! Swimming in the ocean, long summer nights in the backyard and car trips to our favourite summer holiday spots. But spare a thought for our furry friends. Summer can be hard when you have a furry coat. We have complied some top tips to help your pup beat the heat this summer season.
Top tips to help your pup beat the heat:
- Shade
Ensure they have a cool, shady area outside! When that temperature starts to rise it’s best to bring your furry friend indoors with air-conditioners and fans. - Water
Multiple large containers of fresh, cool water – you can add some ice cubes in the morning. - No exercise in heat
Walks in the very early morning or evening/night only. - Avoid car
Avoid rides in the car but if you must make sure the air conditioner is on and the car is cool prior to getting in. Also, remember to never leave your pet unattended. - Wet Coat
A small amount of water in a plastic shell for your dog to sit in, you can also use a hose to gently wet their coat. - Cool treats
For a cool doggy treat get an old ice-cream container and fill it with a little dry dog food, a little vegemite and the rest water – put it in the freezer and it’s ready to go the next morning. This will keep your pooch entertained as well as cooling them down! Two birds one stone!
Share and take care of your pets on hot days. Heat stroke is easily prevented.
