Is it safe to use paw paw ointment on my dogs belly to relieve itch?

Paw paw ointment is not toxic to dogs and it can be soothing and form a protective layer on sore skin. If a large amount is eaten however it has the potential to cause vomiting or diarrhoea. 

It won’t treat bacterial or yeast infection.
