I think my 8yr old Great Dane ate some organic fertiliser today. Should I be worried?

Depending on the amount eaten, when dogs eat organic fertiliser, they will get a mild to moderate tummy upset and show the following signs:

• Diarrhoea,
• Vomiting,
• Salivation,
• Lethargy and
• Tummy pain.

In cases of severe vomiting and diarrhoea, which is less common, they could become dehydrated or suffer an electrolyte imbalance.

If an organic fertiliser was old and growing mould for example, that would cause them to be more unwell. (also note that some fertilisers have additives such as insecticides so be sure to check the ingredients of your fertiliser)
