My 8 year old dogs left eye reflects like a torch is being shined on it, my family suspects it is a cataract, I’m not sure?

Given that one eye looks different to the other, it’s worth getting it checked out.

Yes, it could be a cataract, but it could be any other things as well (lens prolapse, atrophy of the retina, and more).

A hands-on examination from your local vet would be a great place to start. The eye should be examined for inflammation that may require immediate treatment. If it is a cataract and its come on suddenly, we also need to check for underlying conditions that cause cataracts, such as Diabetes.
