Is the debarking surgery safe?
The debarking surgery is considered inhumane by many.
It involves the surgical removal of the voice box which leaves a raspy bark as opposed to their regular bark. It is really just changing the sound of the bark, and isn’t addressing the reasons for the barking in the first place, not to mention that complications from surgery can be life threatening.
There are many things you can do to stop a barking dog (I know you may have done many of these), and surgical debarking is only ever an option when all others have been attempted, and it’s the only remaining.
