Ask Dr Claire

My cat is being treated for a corneal ulcer secondary to cat flu. He is on antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. If we use flea powder will it react with his medication? Thank you!

Flea powder won’t react with antibiotics or anti-inflammatories. As it’s a powder though, you need to be careful to not get it anywhere near the eye. Powder could cause local irritation to the already sore eye.

There are more effective products for flea control that I would recommend over powder, that will treat all life stages of the flea life cycle and won’t react with the medications your cat is on either, such as registered spot-ons.
