My 3 year old overweight cat is spending a lot of time in his litter box and naughty micro peeing where he shouldn’t, like in his bed or my bed or on clothes, should I get him checked out?

Indoor overweight males are a high risk category for feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD). It causes local pain to the area and if the urethra becomes completely blocked it becomes life threatening very quickly.

A hands-on examination from your local vet as soon as possible, would be a great place to start. They may even recommend a blood test and certainly a urine test, as a great way to assess your cat’s base health.

When a health condition is ruled out he can be treated for an anxiety related problem, but he needs to be checked first, as a matter of urgency. Especially as he is spending more time than usual in the litter tray, indicating he is having trouble passing the urine.
